MOTOR JIKOV extends cooperation with an American producer of golf carts

E-Z-GO, an American company which is the world’s largest producer of golf carts, will have components produced by the Industrial Products Division at MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská for another three years. Both companies agreed to extend the contract, which should have expired in December. The company will also supply parts for a new E-Z-GO project, a large utility terrain vehicle called Mongoose.

The extent of trade between the South Bohemian company and its American partner should increase by EUR 3.7 million over five years, i.e. up to EUR 8.2 million per year. “Long-term cooperation supported by good quality deliveries, good communication and technical support from our side brings its fruits. In this case not only in form of extending the existing contract under favourable conditions, but also in form of developing cooperation. For us it means searching for new qualified employees and investments in acquisitions of machining centres and lathes”, highlighted Miroslav Dvořák, General Director of the MOTOR JIKOV Group.

The contract includes a three-year delivery of wheel-suspensions, brake drums and pedal systems. “We consider maintaining the agreed upon prices a success, because with long-term contracts there is usually pressure on giving a reduction. The new contract will enforce material clauses, which we believe will be beneficial for us. The prices of materials are linked to the world markets and can change over the years, which will be taken into consideration,“ explained Milan Vančata, the Director of the Industrial Products Division of MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská.

MOTOR JIKOV has also been cooperating with E-Z-GO on a technical level, providing design and technical support when developing new products. Due to this cooperation, the South Bohemian company gained the new contract for producing parts for Mongoose, a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) Mongoose. “It is a great order. We offered to produce seven parts and we won all seven after some negotiations. Some of the parts will be mounted in the Mongoose twice, some four times, which even increases the volume of production,“ added Milan Vančata.
E-Z-GO has been producing golf carts in Augusta, Georgia, since 1954. Besides the golf carts it also offers utility vehicles for use in logistics, health service, gastronomy or hunting sectors. It has been part of the Textron Company since 1961.
