Classic machines and modern machining centers fill the new training facility of MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s. in České Budějovice.
On 130 square meters, apprentices and students are introduced to programming, machining, grinding, and other operational techniques. The tradition of training the next generation for engineering and foundry fields began in the MOTOR JIKOV GROUP companies in 2007, as a response to increasing demands from companies regarding the number of graduates from technical schools and their professional skills. Currently, the company operates a training center in České Budějovice and a training and educational center in Soběslav.

The capacity of the České Budějovice center, equipped with a machining center, CNC lathe, conventional lathe, milling machine, surface grinder, and three benches, is eight young men/women. In addition, other young people gain professional skills and experience with work processes in mower assembly at the Mechanization division, in maintenance of the Pressure Casting department, in the foundry model shop, or in the divisions of Molds and Special Machines, where toolmakers and fitters are particularly involved.
In the framework of practical training, apprentices in trades such as metal machining, locksmithing, and toolmaking, as well as students in the mechanic and setter baccalaureate program, attend the center. All are from VOŠ, SPŠ automotive and technical school České Budějovice. Apprentices participate in a weekly practice and school cycle, while students follow a three-day schedule over ten days.
"When evaluating the activity of the training center since its inception five years ago, we observe a significant improvement in young people's attitude towards work. Year by year, the quality of work increases, and at this year’s national exhibition Education and Crafts, they successfully presented a self-made variator. I would also like to mention that our interns contributed to the construction of the training facility through their own efforts," says Radomír Hrouda, technical education supervisor.
