The new CNG filling station on the Jitex premises is only final revision away from operational commencement.
The first load test in front of industry experts has successfully passed the new CNG station located within the Písek Jitex complex. It will soon be handed over to the investor, ZLINER ENERGY.
Písek becomes the third South Bohemian city to host a public CNG filling station. Currently fully operational, it is in the testing and inspection phase, with plans to serve corporate fleets and the general motoring public shortly. One of the first companies to utilize this station for its fleet is ČSAD AUTOBUSY Č. Budějovice. This South Bohemian transport provider has decided, after careful consideration, to adopt CNG as a more ecologically and economically advantageous alternative to diesel, especially within city and suburban transit in Písek.
“As a large operator, we are constantly seeking ways to improve the company's economics. Despite our modern and high-quality fleet, we have decided that CNG is the best alternative to diesel. CNG combines undeniable ecological benefits—which are especially significant in urban transit—with numerous economic advantages. It offers lower operational costs, better heating, quieter operation, and greater travel comfort for passengers. We are considering introducing about twenty CNG buses in the coming months, which would represent roughly ten percent of our current fleet,” explains Vladimír Homola, CEO of ČSAD AUTOBUSY České Budějovice.
Thus, ČSAD Autobusy České Budějovice’s management was eager to showcase the new station to a partner—Austria’s major public transport provider ÖBB-Postbus, GmbH. Austria’s leading mass transit operator with approximately two and a half thousand buses has yet to adopt CNG, making Písek’s station a first glimpse for Austrians of the ease and speed of refueling. Austrian operators and other guests—including Jihočeský regional councilor for transportation Antonín Krák, the mayor of Písek Ondřej Veselý, deputy mayor Vojtěch Bubník, and transportation department head Michal Kovařík—along with Vladimír Homola, Jiří Borovka of JIKORD, Karel Papežík of ZLINER ENERGY, and Václav Král of MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská a.s., inspected key technological components: the compressor room, high-pressure tanks, and the dispensing station with a 24/7 payment terminal ensuring quick and cashless operation.
“I’m pleased to report that the construction of the Písek station is proceeding smoothly and exactly as planned. With only the final inspection and approval process remaining before it opens to the wider public, each new station marks a significant step forward for us. Our joint CNG project envisions the development of additional filling stations, and our proprietary, top-tier CNG filling technology—developed and manufactured solely in the Czech Republic—has been recognized by industry experts and the motoring public alike as a promising step toward sustainable transportation. This alternative fuel option is poised for a future,” states Miroslav Dvořák, chairman and CEO of MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s.
