Blog The Gas Mobility Day highlighted the idea that driving on natural gas is a smart investment.

The Czech Republic is prepared for a substantial development in the utilization of vehicles powered by natural gas. This was confirmed by hundreds of visitors from the professional public, who were attracted at the beginning of September by the Czech Gas Association's event called Gas Mobility Day. The latest technologies in gas mobility were on display, including personal vehicles running on compressed natural gas (CNG), LNG trucks, buses, municipal service vehicles, portable and stationary refueling stations, and biogas utilization in transportation.

"At the event dedicated to industry professionals and trade partners of exhibitors, we showcased the domestic refueling station MJ Compact 05. All CNG models from Škoda were displayed, including Scala, Kamiq, and especially the new generation of the popular Octavia. Additionally, LNG trucks from Scania, Volvo, CNG vans, and Iveco trucks were showcased. Technologies included, for example, an LNG dispensing station, mobile tank and LNG tanker, among others," informed Jan Kocourek, sales manager at CNG MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská a.s.

The Czech Gas Association, at Gas Mobility Day, called on the commercial and public sectors to intensify the use of gas-powered vehicles and offered assistance through expert consultations and support in legislative changes. The call was also supported by the Association of Towns and Municipalities of the Czech Republic, the Association of Car Importers, and the Česmad Bohemia logistics association.

"Natural gas is today the most affordable and often the only solution to reduce harmful emissions in transportation and meet the European Union’s climate goals. However, the proper and timely setting of economic support from the state is crucial for further development of gas mobility," said Lenka Kovačovská, Executive Director of ČPS.

"Without natural gas in transportation, we cannot meet the emission targets we have committed to. Although other alternatives are discussed, natural gas always emerges as the most suitable in terms of operating costs and ecological benefits. Moreover, in the freight transport sector, there is currently no other available fuel that achieves the required combination of high performance and environmentally friendly operation. State support, especially in this sector, is also necessary to ensure the competitiveness of Czech carriers in other European countries where support for gas vehicles exists," added Lenka Kovačovská.
