For the new manufacturing technology, it was necessary to repair the floor in the core foundry hall of MOTOR JIKOV Slévárna a.s. The reasons were explained by Tomáš Prášil, Director of Project Management at MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s.: “The technical condition of the floor and substructure, including waste disposal, was unsatisfactory for the installation of the new manufacturing technology, which is a continuous shot blast machine for blasting high-pressure aluminum and zinc die casts.”
The continuous shot blast machine will primarily serve new manufacturing projects for Mitsubishi. “It involves the front and rear alternator flanges for the tenth-generation alternator and the rear flange of the starter. However, we will also utilize the continuous shot blast in gradual steps for other projects and the blasting of existing products, including especially cylinders for Mahle and a full set of castings for Scania,” added Tomáš Prášil.
The continuous shot blast machine is being acquired as part of the Extension of the Technological Manufacturing Center (TVC) project, under the Potential Program of the Operational Program for Business and Innovation.
“Besides laying 216 square meters of new floor in the core foundry hall, we also used the Christmas shutdown to repair another ten square meters of the floor around the high-pressure furnaces and the steam supply at the hall entrance,” reported Karel Sláma from INVESTIX a.s.
