Up to 400,000 oil pump covers for Toyota Group engines with a 1.5L capacity will be supplied starting from 2021 by the Pressure Die Casting Division of MOTOR JIKOV Castings Ltd. The casting, weighing 400 grams, will be produced using four-part molds on casting machines with a clamping force of 1000 tons.
“This is a new project for our existing customer, Aisin. Ultimately, we expect to deliver between 400,000 and 497,000 units annually to the Písek plant. The Aisin unit will machine, assemble, and deliver the final oil pump assembly for Toyota,” stated Roman Pospíšil, Director of the Pressure Die Casting Division of MOTOR JIKOV Castings Ltd..
In August, the Pressure Die Casting division is scheduled to be nominated for the part supply and to order tooling for casting production. Throughout 2019, the goal is to reach full production demonstration under serial conditions for one shift. The planned start of production is March 2020, with a volume of 13,000 units per month. The following year, production volume will increase to 26,000 units monthly, with growth continuing up to 400,000 units annually,” outlined the project timeline by the division director.
With the introduction of the new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform, the Japanese manufacturer anticipates that half of all models sold will use this platform. “The new platform offers benefits for both the automaker and the customers. TNGA will consist of smaller and lighter components, helping to lower the vehicle's center of gravity, which will lead to improved driving dynamics. The lighter construction will also assist in reducing fuel consumption. Additionally, the components will increase the torsional rigidity of the new vehicles,” clarified Roman Pospíšil.
