Despite the onset of winter weather, intensive work continues on the construction of the first public compressed natural gas (CNG) filling station in the South Bohemian Region.
Compressed natural gas is an eco-friendly alternative for vehicle propulsion. Compared to traditional fuels, it offers significant operational cost savings. Engine operation is quieter and more environmentally friendly. It is an ideal choice for corporate fleets, urban public transport vehicles, and everyday motorists.
That's why ČSAD Autobusy Č. Budějovice, a.s., which provides suburban and urban public transportation in Písek and surrounding areas, chose CNG for its new vehicles.
The new filling station in the industrial zone near Písek's JITEX will also be accessible to the general public. Its capacity is 2,000 m³ of natural gas, enough to refuel approximately 100 passenger cars per day. It is also ready to double its capacity.
The technological equipment from the renowned German manufacturer Schwelm Anlagentechnik, GmbH, which has completed over 550 similar projects across Europe, is being introduced to the Czech market by MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská a.s. Soběslav. They will also provide comprehensive service for the equipment.
The pressure storage tank, holding 950 kg of CNG, along with a four-stage compressor SV – 1300NG1, is housed in a concrete soundproof container to ensure that the technology does not cause excessive noise pollution. The bus tank can be filled in 8–12 minutes, while filling a passenger car takes no more than 3 minutes.
“I am glad that the opening of the first public CNG filling station here is already taking shape and has a set date,” stated Miroslav Dvořák, CEO of MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s. “We see great potential in the use of compressed natural gas in transportation. That is why our company MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská a.s. is investing substantial financial resources and human energy into this project. We are now able to offer a wide range of solutions, from home direct filling of five cubic meters per hour to high-capacity stations capable of thousands of cubic meters. Together with our German partner, we will continue building public filling stations here and are working on projects in other EU countries,” concluded Miroslav Dvořák, CEO of MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s.
