The cooperation between MOTOR JIKOV and secondary schools and vocational colleges takes on a new dimension this academic year.
“In the field of mechanical engineering, we have successfully developed a system of scholarships and youth training that fully meets the expectations of our institution, schools, students, and apprentices. We now aim to achieve a similar status in the foundry industry. We are pleased that the South Bohemian Region has also established a scholarship program for foundry work,” stated Miroslav Dvořák, CEO of MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s.
The goal is to attract students from other technical fields to practical training in the foundry industry. “Therefore, we have prepared a supplementary system of financial rewards specifically for these young people who decide to gain practical experience in the foundry during their education or apprenticeship. In addition to a higher allowance for mandatory internships, they will also receive an incentive bonus of ten thousand crowns upon starting work in this sector,” explained Věra Vrchotová, Director of Human Resources Development at MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s. All apprentices and students performing mandatory internships within the company are already compensated for their work, which is not the case in most other companies.
The shortage of workers in foundry operations is partly due to prejudices from parents and the children themselves. “Today, this is an automated operation, and we are looking for people who operate machines in a simplified manner, using computers. It's not heavy manual labor. On the contrary, we installed a fully automated and robotic high-pressure casting facility five years ago that meets Industry 4.0 standards. This is a job suitable for the younger generation, connected with modern information technologies,” emphasized Věra Vrchotová.
