“Fantastic, this is a truly outstanding gift,” praised Vlastimil Říha, director of Elementary School E. Beneše in Soběslav, upon receiving the teaching material for the subject of work activities, generously donated annually by MOTOR JIKOV GROUP to two Soběslav elementary schools.
“It is part of our system to support technical education. We strive to help schools improve the level of practical skills and allow children to experience craftsmanship firsthand,” explained Věra Vrchotová, HR Development Director of MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s.
The teachers decided on the contents of the shipments they received. “This year, thanks to a grant, we purchased tools worth two hundred thousand crowns, so for us, the material from MOTOR JIKOV is a valuable gift,” said Vlastimil Říha. “Usually, we have to buy materials from funds dedicated to supplies, and as you can imagine, they are never enough. We are very grateful for this gift, which is already in the form of semi-finished products; for example, the planks are Planed, ready for immediate use by students—no need for preparation. Truly ideal,” he praised, revealing his original specialization was in technical activities. “We actually have four workshop teachers here, which is a bit of a rarity,” he added with a smile. Work activities are part of the curriculum for grades 6 through 8 at Soběslav elementary school.
The second shipment, which included tools along with materials, was delivered to Comenius Elementary School in Soběslav. Seven-year-old Tomáš Petrásek helped unload it. “My dad works at MOTOR JIKOV as a technologist. I’m not completely sure yet what I want to do, but I’d probably try the same job as my dad,” Tomáš remarked. “Together with the children, we are currently building a garden pergola, so the materials and tools are very useful for us,” added Josef Novotný, deputy principal of the school.
