New projects, quality enhancement in manufacturing, and improvements in the work environment. These are some of the main reasons behind the investments within the MOTOR JIKOV GROUP holding.
“In the past year, we invested 163 million crowns, and for this year, we plan investments amounting to 130 million crowns. Over two years, that will be the same total as four years prior, effectively doubling the holding’s investments,” emphasized Miroslav Dvořák, CEO of MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s.
The divisions investing the most will be the Pressure Casting division of MOTOR JIKOV Slévárna a.s. and the Machining division of MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská a.s., where, for example, they plan to purchase new machining centers. These will be used to machine parts for off-road vehicles from Jaguar Land Rover. This is a completely new contract for the Machining division. “It will involve the production of suspension arms for passenger cars. Currently, intensive technical negotiations are underway among all parties regarding the shape of the semi-finished product – the forging – and, consequently, the design of the fixtures. This is a joint effort between MOTOR JIKOV technicians, THK Dačice technicians, and the end customer Jaguar Land Rover. At the same time, we are negotiating with the machine and technology supplier, which is a German company, SW,” said Milan Vančata, Director of the Machining division at MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská a.s.
MOTOR JIKOV will supply parts for Jaguar Land Rover for nine years, with production scheduled to begin around the end of the 3rd or beginning of the 4th quarter of this year. “To ensure production volumes, two to three machines will be required depending on demand and machining scope – this is still being finalized. They will be horizontal twin-spindle five-axis machining centers, and due to their size, a new opening and driveway into the production hall for machine transportation needed to be established,” added Milan Vančata.
The annual turnover from this new business could reach 40 to 50 million crowns excluding material costs, which consist of steel forgings supplied by a French forge.
The largest expenditure this year is expected to be allocated to the Pressure Casting division of MOTOR JIKOV Slévárna a.s. “The plan includes acquiring three robotic casting stations, a shaft-type melting furnace, and new filtration systems. The pressure casting plant will face one of the most demanding periods, but it will be exciting because it will push usTechnically forward, including active improvements in the working environment and ecological approaches,” emphasized project management director of MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s., Tomáš Prášil.
