A shipment from MOTOR JIKOV arrived at three partner elementary schools in Soběslav and Nové Hrady.
"Within the framework of supporting the development of technical education, the company has once again contributed materials and tools for the practical activities subject. The contents of the shipment were determined directly by the teachers," said Věra Vrchotová, Director of Human Resources Development at MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s.
"From last year's materials, we manufactured spatulas with the students during practical activities. This year, we ordered thinner sheet metal to make it easier to work with. From the new materials, I'd like to make clamps for the students," planned Radislav Dušek, practical skills teacher at Elementary School E. Beneše Soběslav.
The gift from MOTOR JIKOV is highly appreciated. "We received, for example, taps, two new vices, and a Makita drill, though the boys will probably only get to use the drill as a reward," laughed the teacher, continuing: "It's important for students to gain practical experience at least at this level; many won't have the opportunity later, and they might actually enjoy it. Unfortunately, there are many graduates of commercial academies, but very few skilled tradespeople today," noted Radislav Dušek.
Materials and tools were also provided to the Komenský Elementary School in Soběslav. "We are very grateful for the donation. Technical education offers students a promising future. Many of our students are now applying to the Secondary Industrial School of Mechanical Engineering and Construction in Tábor," said Jan Holas, the principal of ZŠ Komenského Soběslav.
The principal of Základní škola Nové Hrady, Karel Kříha, also welcomed the donation. "We are currently teaching in cramped temporary premises, and any improvement, such as new tools and materials, is very much appreciated," Karel Kříha added.
