Blog Scania S Series: International Truck of the Year 2017

The largest business partner of MOTORU JIKOV GROUP, the company Scania, has earned the prestigious title of International Truck of the Year 2017 for its completely new model range S. MOTOR JIKOV GROUP is among the two most significant suppliers of Scania in the field of high-pressure aluminum parts and assemblies, in terms of the number of awarded new parts – projects. For the awarded vehicle, it supplies 24 new high-pressure and low-pressure castings and six gravity aluminum parts. Overall, this business exceeds a volume of over seven million euros annually.
The International Truck of the Year title has been awarded since 1977. This year’s winner was decided by a panel of experts consisting of 25 motoring journalists representing 25 specialized magazines from across Europe.
In selecting the best commercial vehicle, the jury considers innovations, operational efficiency, environmental impact, safety, and not least, driver comfort on long journeys.

This year's winner, the Scania series S, scored a total of 149 points. In second place were representatives of the Italian brand Iveco with their related models Stralis XP and Stralis NP. The third place went to Mercedes-Benz Actros with the new generation OM 471 engine.
The jury, in its evaluation of the new generation of Scania trucks, emphasized factors such as driver comfort, safety aspects, and the positive impact on overall economic efficiency for carriers.

said Henrik Henriksson, President and CEO of Scania.

The development work on the new generation of Scania vehicles took ten years and involved nearly 4,000 employees out of a total of 18,000 employed in Sweden.

Description: Scania has so far received four International Truck of the Year titles in the years 1989, 1996, 2005, and 2010. This year's award marks the fifth.
