Eight months after launching its first public CNG filling station in Písek, MOTOR JIKOV begins construction of an additional station in Jindřichův Hradec.
The fourth largest city in the South Bohemian Region will have, after České Budějovice, Písek, and Tábor, a public compressed natural gas (CNG) filling station for motorists. This new CNG station in South Bohemia will be located in the industrial zone area, directly next to the E551 exit towards Pelhřimov on Jarošovská Street, right in front of the MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská a.s. facility.
“There is great interest in CNG in Jindřichův Hradec from both individuals and companies. For example, the Czech Post, DK Open bakery, and AGRO-LA company, among others, are considering acquiring CNG vehicles but have hesitated due to limited refueling stations. We believe that the new, highly accessible station along the main road will increase the attractiveness of CNG in the Jindřichův Hradec area. If all goes smoothly, we aim to start operations as early as this December,” said Jiří Slíva, Director of the Special Machining and Manufacturing division at MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská a.s., regarding the construction of the CNG station in Jindřichův Hradec.
The company began its own manufacturing of filling devices for direct filling with MJ Compact 05 in 2010. A year later, it won the prestigious E.ON Energy Globe Award CZ, and now, three years later, it has four types of CNG filling technology in its portfolio, serving a full spectrum of customers—from individuals to small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, and large corporations. This year, they launched their public filling stations, debuting in April in Písek, where in partnership with ZLINER ENERGY a.s., they commissioned the first public CNG station in the Písek region at Jitex. The construction of the new station in Jindřichův Hradec continues the company’s active expansion of alternative fuel accessibility.
The core of the Jindřichův Hradec station will feature MJ SAT filling technology with a Becker & Söhne compressor rated at 157 m3/h and a pressure tank of 2240 liters / 285 bar. The station will be equipped with an Adast dispensing stand with NGV1 and NGV2 filling couplings and an integrated payment terminal accepting all common payment cards, including CNG Card. Both passenger vehicles and delivery vans will be able to refuel here, and thanks to the NGV2 coupling, buses and trucks can also use the station.
“The popularity of CNG is increasing. This fuel has great potential for the future due to its ecological, safety, and economic benefits. The only current drawback is the insufficient network of stations—less than fifty in the Czech Republic—limiting refueling options compared to traditional fuels. We aim to change that by expanding the network of public stations and bringing more comfort to CNG travel,” said Miroslav Dvořák, Chairman of the Board and CEO of MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s.
Compared to gasoline, operating costs for CNG vehicles are up to 50% lower. The cost per kilometer is approximately one crown. Today, nearly 6,000 vehicles operate on CNG in the Czech Republic, and by 2015, around 35 more stations are expected to be added to the existing 49. Experts even predict that by 2020, the Czech Republic could have about 400 CNG stations.
