Once again, apprentices from the MOTOR JIKOV training center in Českých Budějovicích found themselves in front of the television camera. The South Bohemian Chamber of Commerce has prepared a unique project to promote the popularization of technology primarily in the eyes of parents. In a series of motivational reports, apprentices and employees of MOTOR JIKOV introduced the professions of mechanic – calibrator and designer.
The goal of the project is to demonstrate directly in the operations of South Bohemian companies that technical professions are a promising career path and that parents should not fear sending their children to technical apprenticeship programs, as these are not unattractive jobs.
“Graduates of the mechanic – calibrator program have opportunities for career advancement in our company, enabling them to work, for example, as technologists, designers, or programmers,” emphasized Iva Fantyšová, Director of HR at MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s. Her words are confirmed by graduate Jan Míka, who has completed an internship at the company’s training center. He has been with the company for over a year and has already been promoted to designer. “After a year working at a CNC machining center, I moved to the position of designer of specialized machinery,” explained Jan Míka.
The series of motivational reports was prepared by the South Bohemian Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with South Bohemian Television, with financial support from the South Bohemian Region. “Significant contributions, both financially and in implementation, are also made by employers, without whose support this initiative would not have been possible,” added Alice Gregová, project coordinator for the South Bohemian Chamber of Commerce. MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s. is one of the companies providing financial support for the project.
The entire project aims, through short motivational reports, to showcase how broad and promising the application of technical education is. “The intention is to present different professions in an engaging way, highlight career opportunities, and introduce secondary schools where students can study programs leading to these professions within the region. I believe that these specific pieces of information and real-world examples from companies and schools will help parents and students in making decisions about choosing a secondary school and future employment in the labor market,” said Hana Šímová, Head of the Department of Education, Youth, and Physical Education of the South Bohemian Region.
