South Bohemian Machinery and Foundry Holding MOTOR JIKOV GROUP Expands Collaboration with Swedish Automaker Scania

The MOTOR JIKOV GROUP, a leading player in the South Bohemian engineering and casting industry, is strengthening its partnership with Scania, one of the world's largest manufacturers of trucks, buses, marine, and industrial engines. The company will supply over thirty components for the new EURO 6 standard engine.
The business volume between the South Bohemian company and the automaker, currently amounting to €9.6 million this year, is projected to double to €18.85 million by 2018. Over the next three years, MOTOR JIKOV GROUP will invest 121 million CZK in machinery and equipment related to new orders.
MOTOR JIKOV has partnered with Scania since 2006, manufacturing low-pressure aluminum castings for them since 2009. In 2012, high-pressure aluminum castings, machined parts, and complex assemblies, including final integrations, were added to the production portfolio.

"MOTOR JIKOV GROUP once again demonstrates its ability to stand among the world's top engineering players. Scania, along with many other clients, recognizes our strength and the significant competitive advantage gained from the integration of four companies within the MOTOR JIKOV GROUP holding. We are capable of managing the entire project—from initial documentation review, through manufacturing, to final processing and assembly," emphasized Miroslav Dvořák, General Director of MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s.
In recent years, Scania has developed a new truck model expected to be seen on roads from 2017 for the next two decades, with subsequent facelifts. The Pressure Casting division of MOTOR JIKOV Slévárna a.s. is negotiating the supply of 34 new complex components made from high-pressure aluminum castings for this vehicle. "These are intended for EURO6-compliant engines and gearboxes, with increasing complexity of parts. This represents a new business worth nearly six million euros annually," added Tomáš Prášil, Project Management Director at MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s. The value of this division’s division is projected to double by 2019.

Another positive development for the South Bohemian holding is the establishment of a new truck holding by the German Volkswagen Group, which transferred its MAN and Scania brands into this structure. This will foster greater collaboration between the brands, standardized parts usage, and increase order volumes and market security for MOTOR JIKOV GROUP.
Currently, the holding manufactures for the Swedish automaker more than thirty different components. Of these, twenty-two are high-pressure aluminum castings produced by the Pressure Casting division of MOTOR JIKOV Slévárna a.s., including components such as side covers, housings, cylinder head covers, flanges, air intake adapters, filters, bearing covers, and numerous other parts, including secondary operations. The number of components is expected to double starting next year.

The Special Machining and Manufacturing division of MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská a.s. processes low-pressure aluminum castings from MOTOR JIKOV Slévárna a.s. as well as other low-pressure and gravity castings, providing assembly operations and further machining of components such as motor brakes, gearboxes, intake pipes, and more.
