České Budějovice – The Minister of Industry and Trade, Ing. Jan Mládek, CSc., personally observed how MOTOR JIKOV collaborates with secondary schools and vocational training centers in preparing apprentices and students for their future careers. “Our training centers annually host up to 140 apprentices and students in trades such as toolmaking, metalworking, locksmithing, and in the graduate program as an mechanic set-up operator. We prepare an entire year’s cohort for the job market, thereby contributing responsibly to enhancing the quality of technical school graduates,” presented the general director of MOTOR JIKOV, Ing. Miroslav Dvořák, the company’s concept to the minister. The company offers scholarships to young people during their studies and interesting jobs after graduation. Approximately one-tenth of students qualify for the scholarship program, and ten percent find employment at MOTOR JIKOV.
The Minister Ing. Jan Mládek appreciated MOTOR JIKOV’s investment in youth. “How do you manage to retain apprentices and students after their scholarships end?” the minister inquired. “To ensure our scholarship recipients stay with us after completing their studies, we organize tours for them and their parents, motivate them with financial rewards, and involve them in mandatory internships — actions that most companies do not undertake. Our scholars begin preparing for a specific job position in their final year of study, which they will assume upon graduation,” explained Věra Vrchotová, Director of Human Resources Development at MOTOR JIKOV Group. During the official graduation ceremony, graduates receive congratulatory notes and MOTOR JIKOV-branded watches from General Director Ing. Miroslav Dvořák.
During his visit on Monday, October 13, Minister Jan Mládek also toured the production facilities of MOTOR JIKOV Fostron a.s., MOTOR JIKOV Slévárna a.s., and met with apprentices currently undertaking internships.
The MOTOR JIKOV GROUP holding company has “training centers” in České Budějovice and Soběslav. The mandatory practice involves apprentices spending one week in school for theoretical preparation and one week in practice, throughout the entire school year, during the 2nd + 3rd year of the apprenticeship and in the 4th year of the graduation program. “We adhere to the curriculum, but our apprentices learn much more because, besides the training center, they participate directly in manufacturing in workshops and company operations during the school year,” added Věra Vrchotová.
The meeting also covered MOTOR JIKOV’s participation in the Sectoral Council for Engineering, where the company was the first in the South Bohemian Region to initiate and sign the Sectoral Agreement for Engineering — aiming to support technical education. MOTOR JIKOV actively supports and participates in all projects addressing the skills shortage. It is also involved in the pilot project POSPOLU, which focuses on school-company cooperation, seeking the optimal collaboration model, with the resulting methodology potentially becoming part of legislative frameworks.
