Blog Hysterical support for e-mobility is devastating for the industry

The second highest official of the state, the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Senator for ODS Jaroslav Kubera, visited MOTOR JIKOV GROUP. He familiarized himself with the company's manufacturing program and met with the Chairman of the Board and CEO of MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s., Miroslav Dvořák.
“Mr. Chairman Jaroslav Kuberra and I share many views, whether it’s about the rise of electromobility, the philosophy of building a company, or signals of an impending economic recession,” said Miroslav Dvořák, CEO of MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s.
Jaroslav Kubera showed interest in the details of the MOTOR JIKOV Slévárna a.s. iron foundry operations and was also interested in the project of filling stations for compressed natural gas produced by MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská a.s. “I think the current—even hysterical—support for the development of electromobility is destructive to the current functioning industry. Support for ecology, as MOTOR JIKOV does with CNG filling stations, is fine. But you cannot declare a goal, wipe out an entire industry for it, and if it doesn’t work out, what will we do then?” emphasized the Senate President Jaroslav Kubera during the visit to the company.

“I've worked in manufacturing purchasing and sales for twenty years. A company needs to be prepared for a decline in one segment. To use a fruit tree metaphor: it must be that there are strawberries under the apple trees. When apples are abundant, strawberries may not be, and vice versa,” said Jaroslav Kubera, who worked from 1969 to 1990 at Elektrosvit Teplice.
While government officials close their eyes to signals of an impending recession, Jaroslav Kubera is clear. “When banks started offering negative interest rates, that was the beginning of the end,” he noted.
Jaroslav Kubera has been the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic (PČR) since 2018 and is a member of ODS. From 1994 to 2018, he continuously led the city of Teplice, initially as mayor, and from 2001 as mayor, since 2000 he has been a senator for district no. 32 – Teplice. He was chairman of the Senate’s Constitutional and Legal Committee and has been Vice-Chairman of the Senate since 2016.
