Deepening our collaboration, MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s. partners with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň to develop a new professional bachelor's specialization. The company showcased itself during Automotive Day, an event where companies focusing on the automotive industry presented to prospective students on campus. The visit also traveled in the opposite direction—from Plzeň to České Budějovice—when Dean Milan Edl, Associate Dean for Practical Cooperation Jan Zdebor, and Associate Dean for Educational Activities Jiří Staněk toured the production facilities and workspaces where students of the new program will gain hands-on experience.
In the upcoming academic year, the faculty will launch a new study track in Servicing and Diagnostics of Road Vehicles, tailored to meet industry needs.
“Based on input from automotive industry partners we collaborate with, the request to open this professional bachelor's specialization was born. Students will have four days of theoretical lessons from the second year, with the fifth day always dedicated to practical training at a company,” explained Associate Dean for Studies Jiří Staněk. “After completing the three-year bachelor’s program, students will be fully qualified to work at one of these companies. If they wish, they can continue their studies with a master’s program at our faculty,” added Staněk.
Visitors to Automotive Day could see numerous industry exhibits, demonstrations of company activities, and had the opportunity to talk with potential employers, including MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s. Additionally, they could explore faculty facilities, laboratories, and the RTI research center.
Our cooperation with MOTOR JIKOV has been ongoing for some time, and we are pleased to have you represented on our professional council. This allows us to actively listen to industry demands. The newly created bachelor's program is a direct result of this collaboration, offering students from South Bohemia the opportunity to undertake internships at MOTOR JIKOV. We also welcome industry experts from MOTOR JIKOV to lecture in some of the courses within the new specialization,” said Dean Milan Edl during his visit to the company.
By the end of April, ZČU will decide whether there is sufficient interest to enroll students in the new program and whether classes will commence this fall. “If so, we plan to revisit MOTOR JIKOV during the summer semester to ensure everything is prepared,” Milan Edl noted.
“We will offer tours to students who choose the program. We want them to see what our educational support system can provide—from scholarships to the opportunity to work on bachelor’s theses directly within the company,” emphasized Věra Vrchotová, Director of Human Resources Development at MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s.
