Blog Final exams are happening at the company for the very first time this year.

The next step in the development of technical education has been taken by MOTOR JIKOV and VOŠ, SPŠ automobilní a technická České Budějovice. Senior students with good academic records are taking their final exams directly at the company's operations.

The final practical exam consists of three parts. Two-thirds of the assessment, including machining of parts on traditional machines and programming, is conducted at the school. The remaining third, focused on CNC machining of components, takes place directly at the company.

"It’s a fairly demanding exam, designed to demonstrate students' actual skills in the field. We are trying this model for the first time this year, but it is expected that we will continue with it in the coming years. Both educators and we see the benefits, as well as the students themselves, who have the opportunity to take the practical exam in a familiar environment, on numerical machines they know and work with during their internships," evaluates this new trend Zdeněk Struska, the training center manager.

This is confirmed by fourth-year student Josef Faltýn, who is studying mechanic and setter. “I had the option to choose, but I almost didn’t hesitate. Being able to take the exam at the company and on machines I know from practice and can operate gives me a bit more confidence,” says Josef Faltýn, who plans to continue his studies at VŠTE in České Budějovice next academic year.

Based on the decision of the school and company management, students who have a contract with the company and receive a scholarship can take exams at the company. “We financially support students with good grades who reliably fulfill their duties at school and at our workplaces during their studies. After successful completion, we also provide a guarantee of employment,” adds Radomír Hrouda, the technical education expert.

One such student is František Daniel, a student of mechanic and setter at VOŠ, SPŠ automobilní a technická in České Budějovice. After graduating from high school, he is joining MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská a.s. in Soběslav. “I am glad to be able to start working right after school. I already know the Soběslav plant from a summer internship, I like its production program, and I look forward to learning new things.”
