Blog CNG remains a smarter choice than discounted gasoline____

The price of gasoline and diesel has dropped on average to thirty crowns; however, the economic advantage of operating a vehicle on CNG has only slightly decreased. “Gasoline would need to fall to twenty-two crowns per liter for the difference between CNG and gasoline to disappear. It clearly follows that compressed natural gas remains much more cost-effective than traditional fuels,” emphasizes Jiří Slíva, Director of the Special Machining and Manufacturing division (SOV) at MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská a.s.

“Today, we more frequently encounter similar questions from potential customers, but we have not seen demotivation. I would consider stopping people’s considerations of alternative fuels or canceling ongoing projects to be shortsighted decisions. Preparing and approving investments in vehicles or forklift trucks on CNG, or even private filling stations, typically takes our customers at least a year,” highlights Václav Král, CNG Sales Manager at SOV MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská a.s.

Given the current global market situation, this year will be a record-breaking year in the CNG sector for MOTOR JIKOV. “We will design and build at least seven public filling stations, produce nearly twenty in-company filling units, and one hundred small, home compression devices for natural gas,” refuses any ideas of slowing down the development of the CNG segment, Václav Král states.

“We consider the decline in gasoline prices a short-term fluctuation driven by the complex and uncertain political situation worldwide, but from an economic perspective, it is not definitively justified. Moreover, it is important to highlight that the price of natural gas largely and with some delay follows the oil price, so a decrease in CNG prices can also be expected,” adds Jiří Slíva.

Significant and completely independent of raw material prices are the environmental benefits of using natural gas in transportation, which emits fewer particulate matter, CO2, other oxides of carbon, nitrogen, and more during combustion of CNG. These should be additional reasons to support clean mobility.
