The new elective course in pressure casting broadens the study program at the Czech-Budějovice University of Technology and Economics starting from the new semester.
"Pressure metal casting technology is part of the Mechanical Engineering program, developed in response to the demand from MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s. This provides students with additional career opportunities. Besides excellent practical connections, students also have access to our laboratories, where they can analyze the metal structure and chemical composition to verify product quality," explains Associate Professor Ján Kmec, program guarantor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at VŠTE.

This is a significant advantage for the engineering holding MOTOR JIKOV GROUP, which includes a pressure casting foundry. "Training and preparing new, young specialists is no easy task. Technical professions are generally hard to fill, and those in specialized technology positions are even more so. Especially since many schools are inflexible and respond poorly to industry demands," says Věra Vrchotová, Director of Human Resources Development at MOTOR JIKOV Group a.s. The company offers scholarships to students and, subsequently, very good employment prospects. "This year alone, eleven graduates from our scholarship program for secondary and higher education students have joined our workforce. We believe pressure casting students will show similar interest," added Věra Vrchotová.

According to Vojtěch Stehel, Vice-Rector for Commercialization and Creative Activities at VŠTE, ČB technical education is well-positioned to adapt flexibly to industry needs. "We stand out among Czech universities through a strong focus on practical training and collaboration with selected companies based on study programs. We also utilize the Professional Council, which includes employer representatives. There, we also learned about the shortage of university students in foundry engineering. Therefore, our experts developed a new, fully-fledged elective course dedicated to pressure casting," states the vice-rector.
